Lovely in Pink turns one today! (well, really on July 4th but that’s ok)
So much as changed over the year with Lovely in Pink; with not only the look of the site but the direction.
So today, I wanted to share with you some of the few things I learned about my blogging experiance and how I’ve grown over the past year.
Lovely in Pink Turns One!
Lovely in Pink started as a way to give myself a creative outlet. It was originally created to share super cute mommy and me outfits but that came to a screetching halt when I discovered that my daughter (at the time 2 years old) HATED taking pictures! This was devastating to me because I had based this entire blog on this super cute concept! I had to change directions quickly because that wasn’t going to work with me and a screaming child.
I feel like the first 3 months of this blog was actually self discovery. When I say that, I mean that I didn’t know that I was going to push myself so hard to open myself up with complete strangers! I was going to share moments of weakness with others that I normally would not even feel comfortable sharing with my own family.
I’m normally a very ‘keep to myself’ or ‘I’m fine’ put a smile on my face person and press on. But through this blog, I was able to not only express myself with the fun colorful fashion, but through writing. Writing what I’m truly feeling; as a mom, wife, daughter, and friend. Opening up has lead me to heal wounds that were so wide and deep that I never thought would close up. I soon discovered that my life is purposeful and that my story matters and has purpose. The Lord has putting me in different situations and has presented many challenged before me. I wanted to share my personal stories of victories (big or small) with others to let them know that with constant prayer and trust, the Lord is always with you.
There is also the constant battle of comparison to others that are doing the same thing. Not having the same number of followers or their background looks better. It was hard to get over that. There were so many days that I felt defeated and just wanted to quit. I finally just started focusing on what I loved to do and started having fun. It’s not all about the numbers or who’s reading or following…it’s about the connections and relationships I’m building that are important. It’s about having fun sharing the things I love; which is fun colorful styles and inspiring others to love themselves.
What to expect next…
So I gave myself one year to decide whether I wanted to continue this journey. After so many ups and downs, I feel like I finally found something that I enjoy doing! So here’s to another year of Lovely in Pink! I’m so excited to see what the next year has in store for Lovely in Pink! I know that there will be more cute outfits (haha! of course!) and more personal growth! I hope you can join me in this journey together!
I want to say thank you to everyone that has made any impact during this time (whether it was big or small), because without you, there would not be a Lovely in Pink! So thank you so much!
And as a small token of my appreciation, I will be giving away a $25 Gift Card to my favorite store of all time…TARGET!
