I hope your week is starting off great!
I’ve been having a lot of creative juices flowing so I’m running with it before they run out!
I wanted to talk about “loving myself” for Valentine’s Day.
So this is the title of my post and I wanted to talk more about loving myself. Everyone has insecurities. Whether they be physical, or anything really. Everybody has them! I remember at the young age of 11 years old talking to my grandmother that when I grow up, I want a nose job.
She told me why, and I soon explained that I wanted to look like all the other girls; small noses and lighter features. But she looked me straight in my eyes and told me that I was beautiful! That I have beautiful features and I was unique in my look and also intelligent.
Fast forward 22 years later and she was absolutely right! I am beautiful and unique! Now, I’m not trying to be vain and say that I’m a supermodel. What I’m describing is my level of self esteem and confidence in the women I have become.
I have had body image issue since I was 12 years old and suffered with it through high school and collage. It’s wasn’t until I became a mom that my body image had changed. I would no longer looked at myself like I did before but with eyes for the future for my daughter.
I want her to see me as a strong, smart, passionate, determined women that has been through a lot in her life but has over come it. Also, that God created us in His own image. That being said, He created me to look like ‘me’!
Listen guys, I’m 5’4″ 120lbs have a short torsos, long arms and legs, have hardly no chest (I mean at all!) and have big feet! Size 9.5 to be exact. If you would draw me as a cartoon, I would look pretty much like a monkey 🐒 I have stretch marks and saggy skin from before being pregnant with Izzy.
Ok, I would be lying to you that getting fake boobs never crossed my mind. But it did just that, and flew away! I love every awkward part of my body! Like I said, it has taken me a while to get to this point, but I am happy to say that I’ve finally reached the level of self love and high self esteem that I’ve been searching my entire life!
So for this Valentine’s Day, show a little love to yourself! Because we all deserve a little love, why not let it be from yourself!
Pretty in Pink
Now to talk about this super cute outfit!
Fashion tip: Notice the ruffles? They are a petite girl best friend! They add dimension to areas where you don’t already have! This ruffle top is from J.Crew from the fall 2017 and wearing a 00.
Also, I love skirts! I’ve explained before in my last post with the same skirt but in navy blue. I have a booty but no hips, so skirts work great to help round my bottom have out. It is also from j.crew and wearing a 00. The skirt runs large.
Lastly, shoes! Let’s talk about how I love shoes but can’t wear just any old pair. Like I mentioned before, I wear a 9.5. So I make sure to find shoes that either make my feet look slimming or “smaller”. Some styles don’t work for me and that is ok. Heels are my go to with making them look smaller since you are elevating your foot. Comfort and style also go hand and hand in find great shoes!
Kate Spade New York Shoes
I wanted to briefly talk about these amazing shoes! They are Kate Spade New York glitter block heels and every bit amazing! I’ve always wanted a pair of Kate Spade shoes, especially the fun bright ones. Well, I discovered these beauties while shopping at TJMaxx. They were in the clearance and on sale for $39! Talk about a steal and a treasure!
Thank you so much for stopping by and reading my blog post!
Let me know what you think about the outfit and also and other ideas you would love to see on Lovely in Pink!
Talk to you soon!
This post is dedicated to my late grandmother Mama “Mimi” Hilde
