Hi everyone! I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! Our weekend has been so much fun with our friends/family coming to Houston to spend the weekend with us and also to celebrate my hubby’s birthday!!
Today I’m talking all about my wonderful hubby Joe! So, he’s not really into anything big on his day and would rather stay in, watch golf, and have a nice steak meal. But to me, it’s the one day in the year that I truly go all out and make a big deal!! I mean it’s his BIRTHDAY! (Okay, for those of you that don’t know me, I’m a huge birthday celebrator person!! And once I find out it’s your birthday, I make sure to celebrate you bigly or find a way to make you feel special!!)
I’ve been “celebrating” his birthday for the past nine years!! (Wow!!) And the first time I celebrated his day, I decked out his 800 sq ft apartment in banners, balloons, and food…for just the two of us! We were dating at the time and I wanted to make him feel so special on his day! I did’t spare any details and I went all out!! Cherry pie…CHECK! French vanilla ice cream…CHECK! Root beer floats with cute straws…CHECK! Steelers memorabilia…CHECK! Let’s just say he was impressed and couldn’t believe all that I had done for him!
Fast forward nine years later and I’m still using the same banners and decorations. They may be a little worn and have aged over time but they still work and they are so significant to us! (Well, it’s just fun being able to use them over and over and for so many years!) Not saying that Joe has aged simnifically over the past nine years but he has grown to be an amazing husband, partner, friend, and daddy.
He amazes me with each passing year how much love he has for the Lord and how he’s such a dedicated follower of Christ. He leads our family everyday with prayer and also stories of how much Jesus loves us. I especially love seeing him lead our daughter, Izzy, in the scriptures and telling her about Jesus and she’s able to understand! (Okay, I’m now crying while writing this).
Joe loves his family so much and would do anything for those he loves and cares for. That’s just who he is and I love that characteristic about him. He’s super sarcastic and witting but also very charming all at the same time! (Yep, that’s how this casanova won me over!) I think that’s a trait that his family just can’t seem to appreciate about him but for some strange reason, I love that about him!
He is truly my best friend! He’s my cool and calm when I’m totally freaking out! He’s my happy when I’m sad. He’s my silliness when I’m stern. God totally knew what He was doing when He put Joe and I together!
So today, I want to say Happy Birthday to my hubby Joe! Thank you for letting me celebrate nine years of your life with me (and three with Izzy) and making your day feel super special (even when I tend to go a little over board with decorations and desserts!) You deserve to feel spoiled and loved on your day!
